Happy Hanukkah!  New at the W-Shop!

Hanukkah is the annual Jewish festival celebrated on eight successive days, starting December 5th and ending December 12th.  The Menorahs are Animated items and only available until early January.  A candle will be lit each night of Hanukkah.    These Hanukkah menorahs will certainly delight friends and family! I wonder if we’ll be recieving Hanukkah gifts.  Some yummy Latkes, a potato pancake fried in oil, or some sufganiot, a deep fried doughnut.  Or maybe a Dreidel game! We’ll just have to wait and see.

Three New Webkinz Pets to Adopt!  The Seasonal Love Frog, the Pinto, and the Turtle.

Look for these cuties at your local gift shop.  The Love Frog’s Pet Specific Item is the heart-shaped Love Pond for the outdoor yard.  Wonder if it comes with tadpoles!  The Pet Specific food sounds very romantic.  Candied Rose Petals.  Sweeeeet!

The Turtle’s exclusive PSI is the Shell Racer.  Ready, Set, Go!!!  The PSF is the Bugberry Pie. How yummy does that sound!

And our personal favorite, the Pinto.  The Wooden Trough Bathtub is large enough to hold this colorful stead.  And he’ll be able to munch away on the Painted Pinto Bean Salad anytime of day.  Giddyup!

While Buffie the Collie was tending to the Ossilily Plant today, he was able to harvest carrots from the garden.  Take a look at the updated harvest sign!

Ossilily Plant grows Bones for the Collie! KinzMiss solves the Ossilily Plant Mystery!!! I figured out how to get the Collie’s PSI, the Ossilily Plant to grow!!!  First of all I couldn’t figure out why the plant has such a weird name.  But we planted it in the garden and tended the plant everyday.  It required no care at all!  But it also didn’t grow.  After day six of the plant being in the ground with no germination I thought, there’s got to be something we’re not doing.

So……back to the garden we went.  We tried to Rake the garden but that didn’t work, we tried watering again but nope, that didn’t work either.  We inspected the garden and were told “good gardening”.  Then I though more about the name.  Ossi lily.  Could this be a “Down Under” plant. It is a bone after all.  And it’s a Pet Specific Item. What to dogs usually do with their bones????  THEY DIG THEM UNDER!!!!!  

 I thought that maybe we should dig in the dirt!!!

So I clicked on the shovel.  And a warning message came up that said, “It is not recommended that you dig under the crop because it will start its growth cycle again from the beginning.  Are you sure you wish to proceed?”  I hesitated and said no.  I did this several times before I got up the nerve to DIG the plant UNDER because I didn’t want to have to start all over and wait forever til this plant sprouted.  But then I thought what the heck, it’s not growing anyway, so I clicked YES and presto, it sprouted and the plant tag appeared.

I also was able to water the plant too.

Good Growing!  This plant does not require any further nurturing today!

Now that we have a sprouted plant, we’ll be checking back every day to watch our Ossilily Plant grow!

Update: Nov. 27, 2007

We gardened again today and much to our surprise, the Ossilily Plant was in full bloom with three Collie Dog Bones!  It’s bigger than Farm Fresh Cabbage and prettier too!  Once we harvested and watered  the Ossilily Plant, a new one sprouted immediately.  However, only one Collie Bone appeared in our dock.  We’ll be gardening again tomorrow to see if  the Ossilily Plant will yield more than one bone.  Buffie the Collie was so happy to eat his Pet Specific Item.  It raised his hunger meter 5 points!

We just adopted the Collie to our ever growing Webkinz Family.  The Collie’s PSI is the Ossilily Plant.  Today we planted the Ossilily Plant in our vegetable garden and we’ll be watering it every day and watching it grow.  I guess we’ll be harvesting Collie doggie bones!  The Webkinz Collie’s PSF is the Collie Lolly.  Our Collie will need lots of baths to clean his sticky face since I’m sure he’ll have a lickin’ good time slurping up that Collie Lolly.

Here’s a Collie story:   As a young country girl I can remember the day my sister Paula was outside playing in the dirt lane in front of our house.  At the same time our farmer neighbor Mr. Shirk was driving his tractor in the lane to go plow the fields in the meadow just beyond.  Our neighbors Collie Buffie whom we all adored and treated us kids like her own pups, saw the tractor coming in the lane, saw Paula playing in the lane and came bounding to the rescue!  Being the good nanny that she was, Buffie stood her ground between Paula playing in the dirt and the Mr. Shirk driving the tractor.  Buffie barked her head off until Mom came runnng.  Mr. Shirk of course saw what was going on too and stopped the tractor until mom could scoop up my sis.  Paula was always the “bad one” but today was her lucky day.  Buffie got a good treat, probably not a Collie Lolly, and a nice pat on the head since she was such a good girl.  So in tribute to our Nanny Buffie, I’ve named my new adopted Webkinz Buffie.  You might see him romping around the Garden Yard 12 one of these days soon!   

(Update on Ossiliy Plant planted on 11/21/07.  It’s now four days later the plant has not sprouted.  It also does not require any watering or raking.  Hope it’s not a bum plant.)

What’s New In WebKinz Newz?  Thanksgiving gifts are coming to Webkinz World next Thursday the 22nd.  Webkinz World members will be recieving Thanksgiving gifts!

  Be sure to log into Webkinz World on Thanksgiving day to get some really tasty treats that your Webkinz will love to eat!  Looks like we might get some Pumpkin Pie!  A turkey dinner with all the trimmings would be yummy in our tummy too.  Better yet a stylish Pilgrim Hat or complete Pilgrim Outfit gift!  We’ll soon find out!  Thank you Webkinz World!

More Webkinz Newz today told us there’s a new KinzChat feature at the Clubhouse.  A new feature has been added that allows you to close any extra message bubbles.  Just click on the “X” in the message bubble to close that message.  I have found it annoying while trying to talk with a friend and another Webkinz’ message bubble overlaps my message bubble.  This way you can close any overlapping messages so yours can be viewed!  Great idea Webkinz World!     You can also open the “Webkinz In Room” menu and click the little speech bubble next to a members name.  If the member’s name has an “X” in it, that means the member is muted and you won’t be able to see their conversation.

Today between Noon and 1:00 my Brown Arabian Hazelnut was playing outside and a Pet of the Month Ribbon came flying by!  We tried to click on it and I guess we missed.  It’s a bit faster than the Falling Leaves from the Fall Festival.  Fifteen minutes later another came by and we missed that one too.  We didn’t get an actual screen shot because we were too busy trying to click on the darn Flying Ribbon, but here’s the idea of what you’ll see.

I’m not sure you’ll get to play this game if you didn’t adopt a Pet of the Month Frog in October or a Pet of the Month Bear in November.  One more reason to adopt a Pet of the Month!  Remember, coming up for December is the Chihuahua and January is the Lil’Kinz Golden Retriever!  They’d make great Christmas stocking stuffers or Christmas Gifts tied up in a pretty red bow!

      Today in the What’s New section of the  Webkinz News you’ll notice that 2 new Exclusive Gifts have been added for the Pet of the Month.  The Cuckoo Clock has been added as a new  Pet of the Month item.  As the Cuckoo Clock strikes the top of the hour, Ms. Birdie flies out the little door at the top, then the bottom doors open and what looks like the Brown Arabian Horse and Lil’Kinz Golden Retriever come out onto the front porch then run back inside using the second porch door.  The whole time the Cuckoo is Cuckoo-ing away!  Plus the new Party Machine has been added.  This contraption shoots a blast of Confetti and streamers into the air while horns blare and cheers from the party fill the room. At least you don’t have to run the vaccuum cleaner after the party is over. Pick up a Chihuahua as a Christmas gift for someone special on your list.  He’s the December Pet of the Month.  The Chihuahua comes with his very own Poco Fiesta Throne and Bueno Bone Burritos plus an exclusive Pet of the Month gift! In my daily quest for all things Webkinz, I stopped at our neighborhood gift shop and saw Diane stocking the Webkinz Clothes Rack.  I spied the Webkinz Santa Suit and before you could say Syzyglorbit, I nabbed the Santa Suit off the rack.  Believe it or not I was the only person at the Webkinz Clothes Rack!  Their loss is my gain! My Reindeer Hat Rack had gotten a phone call from his best friends Peepers the Frog and Softie the Basset Hound this morning to let him know that snow was falling where they live in the Great White North.  That sent shivers up my Reindeers spine since the temps here in the SunShine State were in the low 50’s this morning, and that’s a little nippy for a thin-blooded caribou .  Hat Rack couldn’t resist donning the brand new Santa Suit, stoking the fire in the fireplace and sipping on steaming hot Miellabeelado.  (The tacos in the Miellabeelado quaff warmed his scratchy throat.  I guess he’s catching the “Snow Bird Bug” that’s going around.)   Later today after it warms up a bit he’s going to the Webkinz Clubhouse and prance around in Garden Yard 12 to show off his new duds!  Maybe we’ll see you there!

 

An early Christmas gift to myself!!!!  I spied the last Lil’Kinz St. Bernard at the local gift shop today and swooped in for the score!  Got it!  It’s mine, all mine! Many years ago when I was an impressionable teen, I wanted a horse.  A Brown Arabian Horse would have suited me just fine!  What’s that got to do with a St. Bernard you might ask?  Bear with.  My best friend Mary Kay had a horse and so did my best friend Angie.  Well….maybe it wasn’t the horse I wanted persay but all the feelings  and daydreams that I conjured up in my mind about horse ownership.  Carefree, lazy trots along the cowpath in the meadow. Secrets whispered into velvety, twitching ears.  My stead would know my every thought.  I’d soak in those chocolatey brown eyes. And don’t forget about the Tack Room! Oh yes, as a bonus you get a tack room and stable for your horse! I actually think I wanted the tack room more than the horse itself.  I wanted to have a space I could call my own, a place I could decorate with “horse stuff”,  a quiet respite from all the “teenage chaos”. But, alas, I didn’t get the horse of my dreams, I got a St. Bernard instead!!!!  You see, early on before I can really remember, my father operated a dog boarding kennel.  Funny thing about that too, you then become a home for all wayard things great and small.  With a family to raise, dad gave up his doggy-dream-world and did the corporate scene instead but that didn’t stop the neighbors from dropping off stray cats and dogs and raccoons and snakes at our doorstep. One cold winter’s day just before Christmas we got a phone call from a neighbor up the street.  “Do you own a St. Bernard?  Did it get away?”  “Well, no.  It’s not ours but we’ll be right up to take a look at it.”  One look at that HUGE fluffy bear-like face and we were hooked.  No, he wasn’t a horse, but he WAS the size of a SMALL PONY and that was good enough for me! I named my pony/dog Bearneard.  He had walked a very, very, very long way to come into my life.  His feet were rubbed raw.  He allowed my family to patch him up and gave us slobbery kisses in gratitude.  His bandaged feet didn’t stop him from lumbering over to the fireplace where he slept and slept and slept.  He became my best friend and I have many, many stories I could tell here.  But that’s a book for another time.

Bearneard’s desparate need for exploring the great outdoors made our family realize he had a greater, higher calling.  He needed more room to roam and run.  A family aquaintance was willing to adopt Bearneard and give him a wonderful home on a sheep farm!  Bearneard was a natural at sheepherding! And that’s how he lived out the remainder of his doggy years.  So in tribute to my best dog friend ever, I found my Webinz St. Bernard and named him Slobbers in memory of my Bearneard!
